Write-up: Guillain-Barr? syndrome; Tingling and numb toes and fingers, which spread to elbows and knees; Tingling and numb toes and fingers , which spread to elbows and knees; Progressed to paralysis; Problems breathing on her own; A spontaneous report was received from a consumer concerning his relative a 39-years-old female patient who received Moderna''s COVID-19 vaccine (mRNA-1273) and experienced tingling, numb toes and fingers which spread to elbows and knees, difficulty breathing progressed to paralysis. The patient''s medical history was not provided. No relevant concomitant medications were reported. On 23 Dec 2020, approximately three weeks prior to the onset of the events, the patient received her first of two planned doses of mRNA-1273 (batch: 011J20A) intramuscularly for prophylaxis of COVID-19 infection. On 14 Jan 2021, the patient experienced tingling, numb toes and fingers, which spread to elbows and knees and progressed to paralysis which required hospitalization and patient was diagnosed with guillain-barr? syndrome. On 25 Jan 2021, the patient was intubated with mechanical breathing because she had problems breathing on her own. patient was hospitalized for a long-term acute care hospital. Treatment for the event included patient was intubated with mechanical breathing. The second dose of mRNA-1273 was discontinued in response to the events. The outcome of the events, tingling, numb toes and fingers which spread to elbows and knees, progressed to paralysis, guillain-barr? syndrome, was intubated with mechanical breathing and had problems breathing her own were not resolved.; Reporter''s Comments: Based on the current available information and temporal association between the use of the product and the start date of the events, a causal relationship cannot be excluded. Write-up: Patient developed cough, chills, upper back pain, left eye blurring vision, and diffuse myalgias and paresthesias. She described tingling on her fingers of both hands, on toes of right foot, and abdominal region. Patient was admitted to the hospital for evaluation and was diagnosed with Guillain-Barr? syndrome and possible acute disseminated encephalomyelitis. Patient is being treated with IVIG for 5 days and methylprednislone, with improvement in symptoms.

Diagnostic Lab Data: I know they did an MRI and a CAT scan, an X-Ray, and they did a protein test on his spinal fluid. He also completed a course of Immunoglobulin therapy for GBS.

Write-up: Patient started complaining of extreme back pain and trouble walking within days after receiving the vaccine. His pain got increasingly worse. On the 23rd he had to be taken into the hospital in an ambulance. He said he felt as if his lower body was separated from his torso, and visible was having trouble walking. They prescribed him Valium, preformed an x-ray, and sent him home. On the 27th he was taken back to the hospital due to leg weakness, tingling in his hands and feet, and extreme pain. He was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. He passed away April 6, 2021 after spending 11 days in the hospital, and 6 days on a ventilator.

Write-up: Progressive ascending paralysis consistent with Guillain-Barre Syndrome. At time of hospitalization, patient was unable to walk. Diagnosis confirmed by spinal tap. IV IG therapy administered for 5 days post diagnosis with significant alleviation of symptoms. As of the date of this filing patient is near completion of at-home PT and has regained the ability to walk using a cane, but recovery is ongoing.

Write-up: Patient presented to Medical Center ED on 4/1/2021 with complaint of 2 day history of bilateral upper and lower extremity weakness that is increasing. Patient had received Covid vaccine 12 days ago and had a self-limited 3 day diarrheal illness 1 week ago. Admitted to hospital, diagnosed with Guillain-Barre, and has undergone plasmapheresis. As of 4/8/2021, patient is showing signs of improvement with movement of his lower extremities.

A 79-years-old female patient received bnt162b2 (PFIZER-BIONTECH mRNA COVID-19 VACCINE, Solution for injection), dose 1 via an unspecified route of administration, administered in Arm Right on 11Feb2021 09:45 (Batch/Lot Number: EL1283) as SINGLE DOSE for covid-19 immunisation. The patient did not have any allergies to medications, food or other products. The patient did not have any relevant medical history. Concomitant medications includes: Plavix (CLOPIDOGREL BISULFATE) 75mg, once a day, Oral, Losartan 100mg, 1/day, Oral for blood pressure high, toprol XL (METOPROLOL SUCCINATE) 50mg, 1/day, Oral for Blood pressure high, ezetimibe (ZETIA) 10mg, once a day for , Oral for High cholesterol. Write-up: Gilliam barre syndrome; This spontaneous case was reported by an other health care professional (subsequently medically confirmed) and describes the occurrence of GUILLAIN-BARRE SYNDROME (Gilliam barre syndrome) in a 58-year-old female patient who received mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) for COVID-19 vaccination. The patient''s past medical history included Bell''s palsy. On 17-Feb-2021, the patient received first dose of mRNA-1273 (Moderna COVID-19 Vaccine) (Intramuscular) 1 dosage form. On 22-Feb-2021, the patient experienced GUILLAIN-BARRE SYNDROME (Gilliam barre syndrome) (seriousness criterion hospitalization). Write-up: Patient developed progressive weakness and was diagnosed with Guillain-Barre Syndrome based on physical exam findings (ascending muscular weakness), lumbar puncture, and MRI findings. Disease course complicated by acute hypoxic respiratory failure which required endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation. He was treated with intravenous immunoglobulin x4 days.
