Write-up:Information has been received from SPMSD (manufacturer control # IE-1577272925-201500129) on 22-DEC-2015. This spontaneous case was received from the health authority on 18-Dec-2015. Ref IE-HPRA-2015-025439. Initial report was received by the HA on 04/Dec/2015 from a member of the public which concerns a 14 year old female patient who experienced Complex regional pain syndrome, Peripheral swelling, Pain, Neck pain, Headache, Insomnia and Fatigue following vaccination with GARDASIL. Concomitant medication MENJUGATE KIT and BOOSTRIX. Medical history/concurrent conditions: None reported. The patient was vaccinated with GARDASIL between 19/Sep/2014 and 17/Apr/2015. An unspecified amount of time post vaccination, the patient experienced complex regional pain syndrome - swollen right hand which lasted for 3 weeks, followed by pain which travelled up right arm to shoulder and across upper back, followed by severe neck pain and chronic headaches. The swelling in her hand abated after 6 weeks but pain persisted in right hand and was also felt in left foot. The patient was unable to attend school many days and perform basic life skill such as washing/drying her own hair. All blood tests were negative. The patient was unable to sleep with the chronic pain in her back and head, and was unable to function socially due to exhaustion and constant pain in her back, neck and head. Corrective treatment included gabapentin 300mg, SOLPADEINE, nurofen, paracetamol, use of TENS machine, numerous physio sessions (including acupuncture), osteopathy, 9 MRI''s, numerous GP and neurology visits, bloods tests for all possible causes including Lyme Disease. At the time of reporting the patient''s symptoms were persisting.
