Write-up: Information has been received from Sanofi Pasteur MSD (MFR control number GB-1577272925-E2015-13422) on 24-NOV-2015. This case was received from the health authority on 23-Nov-2015. Ref GB-MHRA-ADR 23231216. This case is not medically confirmed as the reporter is a consumer. A 12 year old female patient received an injection of GARDASIL, (batch number not reported), route and site not reported, on 24-Sep-2015. On 24-Sep-2015, 20 minutes post vaccination, the patient experienced severe dizziness, sleeping approximately 20 hours a day, severe headaches, intermittent severe tummy aches, could not stand, bumping into walls, severe crying with pain, could not read as could not focus on the words, could not manage even a short car journey to see the doctor. The reporter stated that all the side effects started 20 minutes after receiving the vaccine and she was absent from school for three weeks, was back a couple of half days then off for Halloween. It took this time with treatment from a kinesiologist and homeopathy for her onto her feet and able to get back to daily living. As of six days before the report she had improved but still suffered all symptoms from day to day but they don''t last as long. Days of swimming or physical education at school are difficult and these are still very tired days. The patient was treated with paracetamol, ibuprofen, Artemesia, Alumina, treatment from the kinesiologist. The reporter believes that without the treatment she would not have made the recovery she has. Her condition was severe until she commenced treatment. The reporter stated it was terrifying to watch and that the patient would not be getting the next injection. The reporter had no idea that girls are having such severe and long lasting reactions. The patient attended the doctor and got blood taken. She was taken to hospital. The medical profession could not give any answers or treatment. The medication and treatment were only taken following the reactions from the vaccine. The patient was a previously happy, bubbly 12 year old. The patient had severe fatigue, dizziness, had to keep lying down, terrible constant headaches which had the patient crying as the headache tablets did nothing to ease the pain, intermittent tummy pains throughout the day which stopped her in her tracks and would double her over with pain. At the time of reporting the patient had recovered with sequelae. The reporter considered the events to be serious due to disability, hospitalisation and medically significant.
