Write-up: Information has been received from a nurse concerning a 23 weeks male child with no pertinent medical history and drug allergies, who on 24-NOV-2010 was vaccinated with the first dose of ROTATEQ (lot # unknown), and on 31-JAN-2011 was vaccinated with the second dose of ROTATEQ (6690691/1645Z). There was no concomitant medication. On 08-MAR-2011, the patient experienced abdominal distention, maroon stool, and one episode of non-bilious vomiting followed by one episode of bilious vomiting. On the same day, the patient was examined in the Emergency Room. Abdominal scan showed intussusception. The patient was admitted and treated nonsurgically with air enema. The NP added that there were no pre-disposing factors; the patient was born at 39 weeks, 1 day; and weighed 4025 grams (8.87 pounds). On 09-MAR-2011, the patient was recovered and went back home. On 21-MAR-2011, the patient visited the office and the baby was 17pounds 12oz. No further information is available.

Write-up: Information has been received from a physician concerning a 16 week old female patient who on 21-MAR-2011 was vaccinated orally with a dose of ROTATEQ (lot number 668951/1136Z). Concomitant therapy included oral vitamin D supplement. On 04-MAY-2011 the patient developed intussusception and was hospitalized but the intussusception resolved on its own without treatment the same day it was discovered on 04-MAY-2011. Diagnostic laboratory test ultrasound was performed, no result provided. A lot check has been initiated. Intussusception was considered to be immediately life-threatening. Additional information has been requested.
